ARCHIVED NEWS ABOUT OUR WINTER WATER EMERGENCY

As of February 22, 2023:

Hello everyone,

We received the results from our second round of testing and I'm pleased to tell you that we can officially lift the Boil Water Notice.  We will distribute paper notifications in the coming days to all customers.

Our treated water storage levels are still not back to 100%.  Conservation through the end of the month is encouraged but not required.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Thank you.

UPDATE AS OF 12:56 PM PT 02/16/23

Hello everyone,

The first round of sampling is complete and we are waiting for results before the second sampling is done.  IF both rounds meet the state's requirements, we will lift the BOIL WATER NOTICE.  It currently looks like that may happen by Tuesday midday at the earliest.

Our primary treated water storage tank is above 50% as of yesterday afternoon so we can begin to relax a little on our conservation efforts.  However I will still request for you to be mindful of your usage.  Please find a middle ground somewhere in between "normal usage" and the "essential usage only" that we were doing before.  We are still at least 7-10 days away from being back to maximum capacity on our tanks so you can gradually transition back to "normal usage" over the next few days.

A reminder that until all of our sampling results are complete, all residents remain under a BOIL WATER NOTICE.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

It's been almost 4 days since our repairs were completed but the Rothchild tank is only 3/4 full.  Our primary treated water storage has dropped since Wednesday because of the demand of refilling the Rothchild tank and everyone's use.

We have elected to delay our first round of testing until Wednesday to get all of our tanks at higher levels.  I'm hoping everyone can step up their conservation for the next few days so that we will not have to postpone our initial testing again.  If we work together for the next few days to conserve more, I'm confident we can get the BOIL WATER NOTICE lifted for everyone.  As a reminder, it is still in effect for all residents and cannot be lifted until we can perform the proper testing.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

Repairs were completed a short while ago.  Service was almost completely uninterrupted but we lost 40 to 50,000 gallons of treated water.  We will need to continue to conserve as much water as possible to make up for the loss.

We will do our first round of testing for DDW on Monday and the second round shortly thereafter.  We hope to have the BOIL WATER NOTICE lifted by the end of next week.

This leak was identified by a vigilant member of our community.  Had it not been for their discovery, this could have been much worse.  If you are out walking or driving around and see something that doesn't seem right, please let us know.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

We have another substantial leak on the Rothchild line.  The location has been identified and the repair crew is inroute.  Water is currently on and will remain on until the crew arrives but the Rothchild tank is very low.  I will keep you posted but we will need to continue to conserve water and the BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in place.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

We have completed our repairs but we are still investigating the cause of a low pressure situation on the Rothchild line.  Households at the top of Shady, Sunnyside and Old Mine are experiencing low or no water pressure.

The BOIL WATER NOTICE is still in effect for all households.  We have to perform a series of water quality tests for the Division of Drinking Water before the notice can be lifted.  Once these tests are completed to DDW satisfaction, we will lift the notice and notify everyone via email as well as hand delivered notices.

We need to continue to conserve water.  The Rothchild tank is currently at 15% of capacity and our primary storage tank is at 45%.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

We had hoped to maintain water service while we are completing repairs but unfortunately that will not happen.  Demand on the Rothchild tank has exceeded supply and we were forced to turn it off.  Residents of Shady, Sunnyside,Old Mine and parts of Aldercroft are without service presently.  We will briefly restore service late tomorrow morning to facilitate the repair process and we expect those repairs to be complete tomorrow afternoon.  We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Everyone else needs to continue to conserve as much water as possible, regardless of location.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

A reminder that the BOIL WATER NOTICE is still in effect for all households.

We will be doing another turn off on the Knipe line tonight at 9:00.  Service will be restored Sunday morning.  We will be doing a similar turn off Sunday night into Monday morning on the same line as well as intermittent turn offs Monday during the day.

As of right now we anticipate that the work on our distribution system will be complete Monday and normal water service will resume without further interruptions.  The BOIL WATER NOTICE will remain in effect until our work is complete AND a series of subsequent water tests are completed.  Once those tests deem the water safe for consumption per the Division of Drinking Water, I will email you and notices will be distributed.

Please continue to conserve water.  The next update will be sent Monday evening.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

The BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for all households.

Additional water conservation is needed.  Our primary treated water storage tank is still at 40% and we need to get it above 50% as soon as possible.

We will be suspending service tonight for customers being served by the Knipe tank at 9:00pm.  Customers living toward the end of Panorama will be affected but service will be restored tomorrow morning.  Additional temporary suspensions may be required over the weekend.  I will update you with those details tomorrow.

Every household in the district at the time of this email has water service at near normal pressure.  If you do not have near normal pressure, please check your plumbing fixtures for obstruction.  Three different customers have reported zero or next to zero pressure because of accumulated sediment in their plumbing fixtures.  Once the obstructions were cleared, their pressure was restored. If your fixtures do not have obstructions and you do not have water service, please contact me so that we can investigate your circumstances further.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

The BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for all households.

The work on the Rothchild tank line and the Y tank line was completed today.  Water pressure should be restored to all homes.  If you do not have water pressure, please contact me individually.

We will be working on a portion of the Pollard line tomorrow (Friday).  The affected areas will include Upper Locust and Laurel Drive.  The turn off will take place tomorrow morning but will be restored by the afternoon.

Please continue to conserve water as much as possible.  Our treated water level is currently the same as it was 24 hours ago which means people have increased their usage despite a large portion of the system being offline today.  I ran into a longtime resident in the community today and asked her how many times she was without water since the weekend.  She replied, "I don't know.  We've been using rainwater to flush our toilets and showering elsewhere."  I profusely thanked her for her enormous sacrifice.  This type of conservation is above and beyond our expectations but it sets the bar for the type of water use and personal sacrifice that is exactly what we need right now.  We appreciate everyone's efforts as we continue to navigate this difficult situation.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

The BOIL WATER NOTICE is still in effect for all households.

We will not be doing any zone shut downs this evening.  Everyone's conservation efforts have made it possible for us to produce more water than we are using in spite of the leak, so thank you!  Please continue to conserve so that we will have more flexibility when it comes to turn offs (although there may still need to be some overnight turnoffs in upcoming days).

There will be work performed on two lines tomorrow.  Cypress will be working on the Y tank line as well as the Rothchild tank line.  The areas that are serviced by these tanks include all of Aldercroft Heights Road, Lower Locust, Sunnyside, Roaring Water, Shady Lane and Old Mine Road.  The work will begin around 8:00am but households in those areas should expect sporadic service until the afternoon when we hope that full service will resume.  When full service does resume, please continue to use only essential water and again, the boil water notice remains in effect.

Thank you.
